Cosylab and EBG/MedAustron
signed a
framework contract for the core of the development of the Control System. Services provided cover requirements study and analysis, architecture design, hardware and software development, and device
integration. It is agreed approx. six full time Cosylab architects and developers will be allocated to the project for the period of 3 years with the possibility to extend it.
Among other the framework covers main timing system, power converter controller for magnet power supply, front-end control system and documentation meeting medical standards.
About EBG MedAustron GmbH: The company EBG MedAustron GmbH is building, and will later operate, the MedAustron centre for ion-therapy and research in Wiener Neustadt in the County of Lower Austria.
The centre is currently in the planning stage and is foreseen to begin trial operation in 2013. Patients will be able to benefit from both proton (hydrogen nuclei) and carbon-ion (carbon nuclei)
treatments.
